Before you hit the road, take a minute to read a few tips that can help keep you safe while you ride.
We work with local city councils to encourage and educate safe riding behaviour – all with the goal of keeping people safe. Here’s what we suggest you do:
Experts believe that safe riding begins with wearing a helmet. We agree.
HOPP’s technicians perform thorough inspections to help ensure that each scooter is fit for riding, but it’s important to always check that tyres are in good condition, lights are turned on, and brakes operate correctly before you ride.
Always brake early and gradually – especially when going downhill.
Scooters have hand brakes on the handlebars. Press down on the lever to brake.
Cars are bigger than you, and they hurt. Be vigilant and follow all local traffic laws.
Ride within your limits. Stay focused and alert, avoid riding in other vehicles’ blind spots, and be aware of your surroundings.
Finished riding? Park inside the HOPP zone shown on the map in your app, and be aware of no-parking areas. Make sure you’re looking out for others and never leave your scooter blocking walkways or accessibility ramps.
